History at Foxhill

History in Action

Intent

At Foxhill Primary School we are all HISTORIANS!!! In History lessons, we provide children with opportunities to develop their skills of enquiry, investigation, analysis, interpretation, evaluation and presentation. We also teach children about the life of people who lived in the past and provide the children with a sense of chronology. We teach children the actions of important people in history to ensure they know about significant events in British history, whilst understanding how things have changed over times. children will become secure in their knowledge of how their country (Britain) has developed over time as a society. Our children will learn about aspects of local, British and Ancient history. In addition, we teach children the knowledge of historical development in the wider world. At Foxhill, we believe that allowing the children to understand the importance and enjoyment of History through different opportunities, they will become inquisitive and enthusiastic Historians.

Implementation

Foxhill adopted the CUSP History curriculum in September 2023. CUSP History is built around the principles of cumulative knowledge. This supports opportunities for children to associate and connect with significant periods of time, people, places and events.
