Curriculum By Subject (including EYFS)

Overlooking Bradford from its lofty vantage point, Foxhill Primary School is said to be the highest school in England; from our playground there are inspiring views over the industrial city of Bradford and beyond, to the distant moors. Queensbury, the community in which our school is located, is home to the famous Black Dyke Mill Brass Band. At Foxhill, we are proud of our own brass band and the link with the historic Black Dyke Mill Band.

At Foxhill, our curriculum is designed to ignite a lifelong passion for learning, nurturing inquisitive minds, and fostering the holistic development of every child. Rooted in our core values of excellence, inclusivity, and enjoyment, our curriculum aims to:

Inspire a Love for Learning: We aspire to create a purposeful learning environment where children are excited to explore, question, and discover. By offering a diverse range of stimulating experiences and opportunities, we aim to instil a genuine love for learning that goes beyond the classroom. The cumulative nature of our curriculum opens doors into the next stage of learning from EYFS to Year 6.

Develop Essential Skills: Our curriculum is crafted to equip students with a breadth of skills essential for success in an ever-evolving world. We focus not only on academic proficiency but also on fostering critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and effective communication.

Promote Personal Growth and Well-being: We prioritise the well-being of our students, nurturing their social, emotional, and mental health. Our curriculum encourages self-reflection, empathy, and a strong sense of self-worth, enabling children to flourish as confident and compassionate individuals.

Celebrate Diversity and Inclusivity: Embracing diversity is at the heart of our curriculum. We celebrate differences, promote understanding, and create an environment where every voice is valued and respected. Our curriculum reflects a global perspective, fostering cultural awareness and a sense of global citizenship through our well-structured curriculum.

Forge Meaningful Connections: We believe in a coherent curriculum, which connects prior learning, linking learning to real-life experiences and the wider community. Our curriculum aims to encourage collaboration, community engagement and fostering a deeper understanding of the world.

Empower Lifelong Learners: Our ultimate goal is to empower our pupils to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. By nurturing their curiosity, resilience, and adaptability, we aim to instil a passion for discovery that extends far beyond their time at Foxhill. Through our carefully crafted curriculum, we strive to ignite a spark in each child, empowering them to- embark on a journey of continuous learning, growth, and fulfilment. We aim to inspire and instil in our children, an eagerness to reach out to that wider world they can see from the classroom window.
