PSHE Curriculum

INTENT

At Foxhill Primary School, we strive to be good citizens of the future! We want children to see that anything can be achieved in life if they are to put their mind to it and work hard. It is our aim for children to view people as role models and aspire for excellence in whatever path they choose to go down. Our intent is to give every child a broad and balanced PSHE and Relationships curriculum that equips the children for the future years ahead. To achieve this, it involves exciting experiences and learning that is based on theories to support learning, self-esteem and well-being.

IMPLEMENTATION

At Foxhill, we follow SCARF scheme of work for PSHE and Health and Relationships Education. Through this, pupils become more expert as they progress through the curriculum, accumulating, connecting and making sense of the rich knowledge that is taught. Children with Special Education Needs will have the curriculum adapted according to their needs and in consultation with SENDCO where needed. Our Curriculum is built to look beyond the subjects covered by the National Curriculum to grow our children to develop personally so that they can develop skills to become compassionate citizens in their local and global communities and learners for the future.

SCARF

SAFETY, CARING, ACHIEVEMENT, RESILENCE, FRIENDSHIP

SCARF's whole-school approach supports Foxhill in promoting positive behaviour, mental health, wellbeing, resilience and achievement – giving us everything we need to meet the Relationships and Health Education requirements, and PSHE statutory requirements. More than just a PSHE scheme of work, SCARF supports great learning every day. SCARF is also a cross-curricular approach to giving children everything they need to be the best that they can be. SCARF’s values of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship are promoted within our school curriculum and are given an extra significance through our weekly SCARF and well-being assemblies, which each focus on different elements of SCARF, as well as supporting children to develop as good citizens of the future. Weekly SCARF certificates are handed out to show the children that the values of SCARF are recognised across the curriculum and beyond.
