Recognising our Committment to the Arts

At Foxhill Primary School, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the richness of arts, culture and creativity as an integral part of their education. Guided by our school values of Excellence, Enjoyment and Inclusion, we are committed to providing high-quality artistic experiences that inspire imagination, develop confidence and nurture a lifelong love of learning.

As part of our Artsmark journey, we are embedding creativity across every aspect of school life. Through our curriculum, enrichment opportunities and partnerships with artists and cultural organisations, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to create, perform, explore and express themselves. Whether through visual arts, music, drama, dance, digital media or outdoor creativity, we believe the arts help children to become resilient, confident, reflective and compassionate individuals.

Our commitment extends beyond the classroom. We work closely with families, our local community and cultural partners to provide meaningful experiences that broaden children's horizons and celebrate the diversity of our world. We are continually developing our provision through staff professional development, pupil leadership opportunities and creative projects that place children's voices at the heart of our decision-making.

The Artsmark framework supports our ambition to make creativity a golden thread running throughout our curriculum and school community. We are proud to be on our Artsmark journey and remain committed to ensuring that every child can discover their talents, develop their creativity and flourish both artistically and academically.

At Foxhill Primary School, creativity isn't an add-on – it is a fundamental part of who we are and how we inspire every child to be the very best they can be.

What we do well

At Foxhill Primary School, creativity is woven throughout school life. We are proud to provide a rich and varied arts offer that enables every child to discover and develop their talents.

Our strengths include:

  •  A high-quality art curriculum built around the CUSP curriculum, developing children's knowledge, skills and appreciation of artists from a wide range of cultures.

  •  Creative opportunities across the curriculum, using drama, music and visual arts to enhance learning in English, History, Geography, Science and other subjects.

  •  Music for every child, including instrumental tuition, choir, singing assemblies and opportunities to perform throughout the year.

  •  Artist studies that introduce pupils to significant local, national and international artists, inspiring creativity and broadening cultural understanding.

  •  A commitment to cultural diversity, celebrating artists, musicians and performers from different backgrounds and traditions.

  •  Educational visits and workshops, including galleries, museums, theatres and visits from professional artists and performers.

  •  Creative enrichment weeks and themed projects, allowing children to immerse themselves in exciting artistic experiences.

  •  Outdoor creativity through OPAL, where children use loose parts, natural materials, sculpture, den building and imaginative play to develop creativity every day.

  •  Regular exhibitions and displays, showcasing children's artwork throughout the school and celebrating creativity.

  •  Frequent performances, including productions, nativities, poetry performances, concerts and celebration events for families and the community.

  •  Partnerships with cultural organisations, including Bradford Music Service and local arts organisations, to enrich children's experiences.

  •  Family engagement, encouraging parents and carers to attend exhibitions, performances and creative events.

  •  Developing pupil leadership, giving children opportunities to influence creative projects, exhibitions and arts events through pupil voice. through curriculum leaders and OPAL ambassadors.

  •  Investment in staff development, ensuring teachers continue to develop their confidence and expertise in delivering high-quality arts education.

  •  A whole-school commitment to creativity, where every child is encouraged to explore, create, perform, take risks and express themselves with confidence.

What we'd like to improve

  • Increase the range of Arts activities on offer, such as opportunities for extra curricular creative clubs, teach new skills of digital composition, photography, cheerleading, circus skills and perform a musical production.

  • Work with more professionals, including those from other cultures, to facilitate a wider range of artistic techniques and musical and theatrical appreciation -  particularly those which contribute to children's cultural awareness.

  • Increase creativity, composition and improvision in Music education

  • Increase musical opportunities for well-being

  • Provide artistic and musical opportunities in our outdoor OPAL curriculum

  • Increase opportunities for parents to engage with the Arts through attending showcases and performances and enable participation with their child in School

  • Embedded these improvements into the long term curriculum

How we have made improvements so far

To be contd.....
