School Parliament

Our School Parliament is made up of pupils from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, ensuring that a range of children have a voice in the development of our school. Members are chosen to represent the views, ideas and opinions of their peers and to play an active role in helping to make Foxhill Primary School the best it can be.

The School Parliament meets every two to three weeks to discuss school improvement, pupil voice and issues that are important to children across the school. Members bring ideas, suggestions and concerns from their classes to these meetings and work together to consider how we can continue to improve school life.

The School Parliament may discuss a wide range of topics, including school lunches, OPAL, behaviour, fundraising ideas, rewards, and ways to improve school life. Members also help to carry out agreed actions and are encouraged to take an active role in making positive changes across the school.

Being a member of the School Parliament is an important position of responsibility. As the Parliament continues to develop, pupils gain valuable experience in leadership, teamwork, communication and democracy, while learning that their ideas and opinions can make a real difference to their school community.

Our School
We want our school to be a place that everyone enjoys coming to, where people know and understand each other and feel happy and cared for.

We want Foxhill Primary School to be a safe place where children can be trusted to make sensible choices by following school expectations and living by our school values. We expect everyone to be honest, to show good manners and to treat others and school property with respect.

We aim to be proud of our work and to try our best every day. We keep going when learning feels challenging, listen carefully to others and enjoy discovering new and interesting things about the world.

If everyone works together in this way, we will remember our time at Foxhill Primary School fondly for the rest of our lives.

What is our School Parliament for?

Identifying things, they would like to change
-
Suggesting ways to make things better
-
Helping to put ideas into action
How does our School Parliament work?
Each class elects a School Parliament member through a democratic vote. Parliament meetings will take place regularly. The School Parliament member attends the School Parliament meeting to share the class’s views
What will the School Parliament do for our class?
When ideas are shared with the class representative, they will take the ideas to the next School Parliament meeting and feedback to the class on progress and outcomes

The School Parliament will work to make ideas happen by seeking permission, money, support and time. If an idea cannot go ahead, clear reasons will be shared. If it can go ahead, pupils may be asked to help make it happen.
